Mid-afternoon snack ideas ... (and your challenge is to happily not need snacks anymore)

 

I’ve got a real treat – 3 snack ideas that can help folks on their healthy-eating journey make it through the dreaded mid-afternoon slump.  See my 2nd newsletter in this series for some back-story on this.

 

Mid-afternoon used to be one of my personal prime snacking times!  Planning ahead so that I had something healthy on hand was a must for me.

 

These snacks are surprisingly satisfying and so tasty you’d never guess they’re actually GOOD for you ... to the extent that snacking between meals is something to aspire to.

 

OOPS! ... Did I say that??  

 

I did ... BUT with practice, support, and education, ditching the urge-to-snack-between-meals shackles is achievable by anyone who wants it.

 

That being said, each of these snacks are high in protein and low in sugar, so they easily tided me over till dinnertime … AND kept me on track with my progress ... UNTIL I didn't need them as a security blanket anymore because my body learned to easily burn its own body fat for the fuel it needed to get me through the day.  No more mid-afternoon slump!

 

  1. Cucumber slices with hummus:  Peel a medium cucumber and cut it into spears.  Dip the cucumber into your favorite flavor of hummus and enjoy.
  2. Turkey roll-ups:  Take 4 slices of deli turkey and 4 pickle spears. Roll the pickles up in the turkey slices.
  3. Guacamole stuffed eggs:  Cut a couple hard-boiled eggs in half, and stuff each side with prepared guacamole.  So good!


(Hack for perfect hard-boiled eggs:  Place eggs in a medium pot and add enough cold water to cover them, plus ½ to 1 tsp salt.  Place on stove over medium-high heat and bring to a rolling boil.  Cover the pot, turn off the heat, and set a timer for 20 minutes.  When the timer dings, carefully drain the pot and rinse the eggs with cold water until cool.  Those eggs are ready!)

OR

If time is an issue, buy hard-boiled eggs ready-made and packaged in the deli section of the grocery store.  Zero judgement from me!
