7 Ways to Boost Your Detox System
Controversial topic ahead!
A lot of people LOVE the idea of “doing” a detox.
Since this month we’re focusing on getting rid of things that are blocking health and wellness results, I thought it was important to talk about them.
But, what if instead of talking about detoxing the body … we talk about detoxing what we put in, on, and around our bodies?
(NOTE: This is also known as living a healthy lifestyle!)
The fact is, our body already has an AMAZING built-in system to get rid of waste and toxins. It includes the liver, kidneys, skin, lungs, and large intestine.
But unfortunately, our modern lifestyles and habits tend to make it harder for our organs to do their jobs.
The good news is that its fairly easy to turn that around by cutting back on the overload your “detox” system has to deal with.
Bonus: This approach helps my clients reach their goals faster, and feel better, too.
7 Ways to Boost The Body’s Detox System |
Limit alcohol |
Too much alcohol can make it harder for the liver to do its normal jobs – in addition to burning fat, one of which is helping your body get rid of toxins. (Experts recommend limiting alcohol to 1 drink a day for women and 2 for men.) |
Get enough sleep |
During the day, waste builds up in your brain. Then, at night during sleep, it’s swept away. Not enough sleep = waste buildup. |
Drink the right amount of water |
Water performs lots of functions in the body, including helping the body’s detox system remove waste products from the blood. |
Avoid sugary & processed foods |
Eating high-calorie foods low in vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients is linked to chronic diseases like obesity and diabetes. This can hurt those organs (like kidneys & liver) that help your body’s detox system. |
Get the proper amount of salt. |
Bodies need electrolytes in order to work properly. Most of my clients are pursuing a low-carb/keto lifestyle, and have lowered their insulin levels enough that their kidneys release lots of excess water from their bodies. These clients find that they feel better with an increased amount of salt from what they needed when they were eating lots of sugar. |
Be active |
Exercise and regular activity lowers inflammation in the body and helps boost the body’s ability to detox itself. |
Choose your self-care and home cleaning products carefully |
Using natural body and home products can drastically cut a person's exposure to chemicals with unwanted side effects.

When my clients support their bodies with a healthy lifestyle that works with their schedule and goals, they find that they don't need that magic pill, powder, or potion quick fix they saw advertised on late-night infomercials!
